It is very HOT in Bullhead!

Well, I am pretty much ready for summer to be over here...it's been a normal 115-120 this month everyday...

We do things differently here in th desert that i am sure seem very strange to others...I left my brand new $2.50 big-buttoned calculator in my car accidently one afternoon, and the sun warped it completely!  My bible cover has a permanent cuvature from it's time in the sweltering heat.  When you hate to get buckled because the metal is a gazillion degrees and you are scared to death that it might sear your skin.

We have a swamp-cooler...joy pure joy!  For the vast majority of people that have no idea what a swamp cooler is...it's a big box, with a large squirrel cage in it...there are 3 large pads that go around it and those pads are sprayed on the inside with water, as the squirrel cage spins it pushes (what is supposed to be)  cool moist air into our home.  But seeing as how we have been having so much humidity it renders our swamper close to useless.. therefore it is normally 90-95 degrees inside our home..

But it's good missionary training.. *smiles*

Life's been going pretty good here in beautiful Bullhead City.  My first attempt at teaching Spanish is almost finished...it's been a blast!  It's had it's ups and downs. but there have been about 4 diligent students and I am so blessed to be a part of it.  More people are going to join the class in a couple of weeks and I am very optomistic.

I might be able to teach an ESL class to the parents of the Jr. High that is just down the street...so that's also exciting.  Lastly i'll be doing the water ministry on the corner where the kids get out of school.  I am excited to see what the Lord would like to do with that.

Please pray that the Lord will continue to provide all of my needs...He's faithful.

You are in my prayers as well...Grace

My first day at the beach

I went to the beach today with some friends that are also missionaries here they are teachers at the International Christian School.

We drove through the McDonalds and grabbed some lunch...so funny to do that here...then about a 45 minute drive and we were there.  We also went with a missionary family who have 4 children, who are all white with blond hair...they said the funniest things...like

I know why m&m's are called m&m's..."why" I asked?  To which he said,"because when you eat them you go mmmm..mmmm..."  Hehehe...It was cute.

Then when we were coming back a song from Phantom of the Opera came on and he asked ..."Is this Ket Green?"  we all laughed....It was so nice to spend time with kids and just soak up their pure joy of the sun and the ocean...being all covered in dirt but loving it!

Then i went to the Believer's night which is a bilingual service every Sunday night here....it was nice we watched the movie, "The end of the spear"  because the boy in that movie..Steve...He's going to come to the church here next Sunday night and personally share with us.  That's really neat I am looking forward to that.

Please keep this coming week in your prayers...that the classes will go smoothly and that many students will be ministered to through the Word.

   God bless you!~

Termites

I have been teaching here in Peru for about 3 months now, and they actually built me my very own classroom which is so awesome...for the exception of the termites that walk across the ceiling...yes..

It amazes me how they can walk upside down on my ceiling..but most of them do until of course they fall down onto the tables where my students are studying. One student told me that she got home and found that one had fallen into her hair.

We have a week off of school this week and they will hopefully get rid of them.

Through this little inconvinence the Lord showed me a cool spiritual analogy..which i would like to share with you... *smiles*

Termites..as i am sure everyone knows eat wood...they come up from the ground and eat...they are ussually unseen until things start falling apart or they eat away so much that they reveal themselves.

Just as we can allow sin to come into our lives and it starts to eat away at our relationship with the Lord. Ever so slowly chomp...chomp...chomp. We eventually have to deal with these termites(sin) in our lives otherwise our lives will begin to be consumed. Everything might still look good on the outside but on the inside there is nothing but sawdust...remnants of what used to be. If not dealt with it will get so bad that it will eventually expose itself, and everyone will see the decay that you have been trying so hard to hide.

To exterminate termites you have to dig a small ditch around the entire foundation of the house and then drive stakes into the foundation which send out signals that attract the termites...they eat the bait and take it to the queen and die.

Through reading the Word of God I am driving spiritual stakes into my foundation. The truth of the Bible attacks and destroys the sin in my life.

Of course there are sometimes when putting those stakes in can be painful and it may seem that it would be easier to just let things go...but remember even though termites are small that doesn't mean that can't destroy everything...because they can and they will.

Also just like the termites in my classroom eventually came out and were dropping on the heads of my students...don't be so ignorant to think that your sin only affects you..because it doesn't. Just like termites spread and multiply so will our sin if it isn't taken to the one that had stakes driven into His hands and absorbed and destroyed all sin once and for all.

Who is that?? His name is Jesus Chirst.

If you have sin that is in your life, perhaps like me you have been a Christian your whole life..or perhaps you've never even heard of Jesus..either way..He loves you and laid down His life so that we might live eternally.

If you would like to know more about Jesus and what He has done for you..please e-mail me I would love to talk to you and pray with you. Also get a bible...read the book of John. Pray(talk to God) ask Him to show you who He is. As you breath your next breath ask yourself who is giving you the ability to do that? You aren't here by accident.

Jesus loves you!

The month of August in Peru

"I will love You, O LORD my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." Psalm 18:1-3

I have seen the Lord give me His strength this month as I have seen such devastation and at many times felt so helpless.

First as all of you know there was a huge earthquake here. I canceled all of my classes for a week and teams were sent out everyday to different villages and towns that have been badly affected by the earthquake. Entire communities are now living in the streets as they are scared to death to go into what is left of their homes. We have given food to thousands of people, and blessed people with blankets and water and helped take down and build up where possible. Sometimes the only thing that they need is just someone to be there and hold their hand while they cry. I can't even imagine the despair that so many of these people must feel as they have lost their homes, their loved ones and virtually there very existence. But praise the Lord as we had great news to share with them. That they can have a sure foundation in Jesus Christ, and that He will be their stronghold when everything else has crumbled He will always be faithful.

Secondly all of the Bible College Students arrived this last week...almost 40 of them! It has been great getting to know them and see what the Lord is going to be doing in their lives. One of them even asked me about the ESL class as she would like to teach ESL in the future.

My ESL classes are going well. I give all of the students a verse that they have to memorize each week and the majority of them had it memorized. It was such a joy for me to hear them using the word of God as a tool to learn English. I am teaching 4 days a week from 10:00- 6:30, there are five different levels. Each level has two parts that are 8 weeks long. In only five weeks the first part of the levels will be completed and many of the students will move to the next level. Please pray that the Lord will provide someone to come alongside and teach as right now I don't have the time or energy to create a place for these upcoming classes by myself.

I am also enjoying the blessing of cooking breakfast each morning for the Bible college students. This weekend I will be joining all of the girls from the Bible College as we go for a retreat. Please pray that the Lord will speak to me personally and also that He will use me as a blessing to these girls.

Prayer Requests...

- Please keep the people who have lost their homes and loved ones lifted up
- That the Lord would minister to the Arab families in Israel that I was sharing with before coming to Peru
- That He would give me His strength and patience to teach English

Praises

- That I will be able to spend this coming weekend at the feet of Jesus
- That my mom is home safe and sound in Arizona
- That there are people praying for me and supporting me.
- That God is always faithful to keep His promises
- That i was able to speak to and see my whole church in Arizona through the webcam this last Sunday

May the Lord continue to bless you and keep you, I miss you!

Love in Him, Grace
