Bedouin Life...

Whose little feet are these??  They belong to a little bedouin girl that I met today, while visiting her village between Jerusalem and the Dead Sea.  They are only one pair of many small bruised and dirty feet.

I also met a young woman only one year older than me she has four children and another on the way...they have no homes, no electricity, no refrigeration ...they live on goat's milk, water, and vegtables.  And guess what?  They are content even happy to be living this way.

A part of me desires so much to have that kind of freedom, to not be bound to all the "things"  in this world that I think that I "need".  When in reality I don't need much.   Jesus lived this way, so did David and Moses, and countless other men and women of God.

Jesus said..."Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where theives do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."   Matthew 6:19-21

I stood there with my mouth agape as I watched dozens of little children swarming and grabbing just to get a shirt, or a pair of gloves, a blanket.  Things that I have had all my life and never thought twice about.

Countless Christian tour busses pass this village several times a day heading towards the dead sea, to soak up the deliciousness of being in this Holy place, and walking where Jesus walked.  But I wonder would Jesus if he were on that tour lather up in sun tan lotion and float in the dead sea, or would he upon seeing this village out the window, say "STOP".  Let's get out and minister to these people that I am dying to love.

Everywhere we go there are people that are less fortunate that we are, and we can be the hands and feet of Jesus just by loving them.  If you have something that someone needs, just give it to them God will bless you back!  I have learned that whatever God gives me I need to hold with open hands, the moment that I close my hands around that "thing"  I start to trust in "it" more than in the One that gave it to me.

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.  Therefore don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about it's own things.  Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."  Matthew 6:13-14

God bless you my dear friends, we are all learning these lessons together...i love you!
